IDOT announced the following I-80 ramp and local road closures, in Joliet and Rockdale, for emergency pavement repairs.

Ramp & Local Road Closures

Anticipated to reopen Friday, May 2 by the evening rush

1   Eastbound I-80 ramp to northbound Center Street

2   Northbound Center Street between Meadow Avenue and I-80

3   Westbound I-80 ramp to southbound Center Street/Meadow Avenue (intermittent closures)

Crews are working to complete the repairs and reopen ramps and lanes as soon as safely possible.  Due to the projected temperatures, it may take more time for the concrete to set and gain sufficient strength before ramp(s) and lane(s) can be reopened to traffic.

Heavy congestion is anticipated.  Motorists should consider alternative routes to avoid area.  Local streets are unable to accommodate heavy or wide trucks so other interstate routes are encouraged.
